The Latino Community Foundation of Colorado’s (LCFC) Young Latino Philanthropists Initiative was started by a group of Latino millennials who wanted to make a difference in the Latino community by collectively pooling financial resources. Using the “giving circle” concept, these young visionaries are helping to grow leadership and philanthropy in Colorado. 100% of all money raised goes to Latino organizations that are selected by the group. They will focus their funding on innovation projects that demonstrate originality in addressing community issues through new approaches and systems of program delivery. The LCFC gives priority to models that demonstrate strong partnerships among nonprofits, government, businesses and community institutions.
The Young Latino Philanthropists Initiative will also help to connect potential donors to nonprofits for community volunteer opportunities. It’s a great way to engage people who want to give back to their community but aren't sure how to go about it.
“70 percent of Latinos in Colorado are under the age of 40. We need to harness their time, talent and funds to create a land of opportunity for Latinos.” – Mitchell Gonzales, 26, LCFC board member
The giving circle is open to anyone 35 and under - you don’t have to be Latino to participate.
